Kangela 4, the beach holiday house you have been looking for in Ponta Malongane. The design and layout of this airy and tastefully decorated 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms beachfront house has everything you want for an easy and relaxed holiday! There is plenty of opportunity for fun in the sun at the beach or at the pool. Time with friends in the spacious living areas, and private, quiet time in the 4 stand-alone, en-suite, and glass-fronted bedroom chalets, each with their own wooden walkways and lovely views into the sand forest.

Sleeping Arrangements

Kangela 4 sleeps 12 guests.
Bedroom 1 – 
1 King size bed. En-suite.
Bedroom 2 – 1 King size bed. En-suite.
Bedroom 3 – 2 single beds. En-suite.
Bedroom 4 – 2 single beds. En-suite.
Bedroom 5 –2 single beds and a substantial/adult bunk bed with its own bathroom in the main lodge.

The house sleeps 12 people comfortably (10 adults and 2 children).
All the bedrooms are made up of white percale linen and have towels (Take your own beach towels), there are mozzie nets on the sliding doors and windows and each room has a ceiling fan.

Your Space

The Main House consists of a spacious and light open plan living area which flows onto a deck and sitting area with gorgeous sea views.
We do not have a TV.
The dining room table seats 12 people comfortably and connects the well-equipped kitchen to the comfy sitting room and bar.

Kitchen, in the Kitchen there are 2 fridges, a chest-deep freeze and an ice maker in the pantry, a gas hob with an electric oven, a dishwasher, and a washing machine.
The toilets work on a septic tank so please use accordingly.

Hot water runs on a solar system with an electric backup with the bedroom below the pool area the last on the hot water line so it might take a little longer for the hot water to get there.
There is a beach shower attached to the tree on the landing below the pool deck with a tap on the railing.
The water in the house is just below potable, there is a small filtered drinking water tap next to the prep bowl in the kitchen island. We do recommend taking your own drinking water or you can buy it in the village of Ponta Malongane.

Downstairs, next to the pool, there is a gas and a charcoal braai as well as an outside boma. (Swimming pool Does NOT have safety nets)
Wood can be bought from the village or bring your own charcoal.
Please do not collect wood from the forest.

There are 2 red and yellow kayaks that may be used which are kept on the racks under room 4. Please rinse and return them to the racks if you use them.

There is a generator in case of power cuts.

Guest Access –

An off-road 4X4 or 2×4 with a diff lock vehicle is essential for access to the area and to Kangela Estate, otherwise secure parking at Kosi Bay Border Post and a border transfer can be arranged at extra cost. Thereafter you will have to make use of the transfer company to arrange additional transfers if you need to get around in the area.

Staff Tip –

The compulsory staff fees – Tollie is our housekeeper and she is assisted by Francisco, who does most of the outside work.
They work from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm with a lunch break.
They clean, make beds, carry things to the beach, and can help with food preparation but they don’t cook.
Tollie works exclusively for us – her wages are R150.00 per day, including the day of arrival and the day of departure.
Fransisco works jointly between our house and the house next door and must be paid R65.00 per day.
Tollie will do personal laundry for you if required but please tip her separately for this. She will collect the keys from the office/reception and open the house on the day of your arrival.

Other Things To Note –

Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case.
Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes.
Mozambique sim cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices.
The Estate uses borehole water which is usually brownish in colour. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the village and it is advisable to bring bottled drinking water.

Please note we make use of a septic system, don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper. Please bring 1 x ply toilet paper.
Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. (food and liquids, sunlight liquid, washing detergents for clothes, mosquito repellent, 1 x ply toilet paper, etc)
Keys to the unit can be collected from the Reception office at Kangela Estate after 2 pm. They should be dropped off again on the date of departure between 8 am and 10 am.
There are no safes in the house and we suggest you keep all valuables locked in your car.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT of R 4000.00 is payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages and lost keys and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account. Please report any breakages to the housekeepers before you depart. If you find items broken on your 1st day of arrival, please report them to the housekeeper so that they can let the homeowner know.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
Please take note that no extra guests will be allowed over and above the maximum occupancy of a house – any additional person will be asked to leave. The homeowners at the estate get fined if there are additional guests staying at the house. This will affect the refund of the breakage deposit. 
An R 800.00 charge will be levied for early check-in and late check-outs (2:30 pm – Latest).
No smoking.
No pets.
No parties, Loud music, or events/ functions will be allowed.
Reduced noise after 10 pm.
Should you not adhere to these rules then the Estate will retain the full breakage deposit.

Swimming Pool –
The swimming pool at all the house’s has no safety features.
Use of the swimming pool and the associated amenities and facilities are strictly at your own risk. Ponta Malongane Accommodation, Homeowner and the Estate booked at cannot be held responsible in the event of accidental injury and or death.

Cancellation Policy –

Cancellation more than 30 days before arrival 70% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
Cancellation less than 30 days before arrival 0% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
*Service fees are non-refundable.
