Mar Azul Estate in Ponta Malongane Mozambique is a stunning beach housing estate where time and worries of the rest of the world will melt away as you are captured by the serenity of this beautiful location. Mar Azul Estate has 3 rows of houses namely the beachfront row of houses, the second row up from the beach, and a third row up from the beach. All houses at Mar Azul Estate have sea views and all houses have their own full-time housekeepers that work only at that specific house.

The diving and launching site, for boats, is 1km from the estate at the Dive Centre Campsite. To launch your boat you need to obtain a licence from the Port Captain in Ponta Do Ouro. Paddle skis can be launched straight off the front.
Ponta Do Ouro village is about a 7km drive away.

Mar Azul Estate is about a half-hour (22 km) sand road drive from the Kosi Bay Border, you slip the car into 4×4 mode to take on the sandy roads. A 4×4 vehicle or 2×4 with a diff lock will be needed to access the area and Mar Azul Estate. The Ponta Malongane Dive camp is located about 1 km south of the estate’s gate. Mar Azul Estate is a 15-minute drive from Ponta do Ouro. Maputo to Mar Azul Estate +/- 2 hours. Johannesburg to Mar Azul Estate +/- 8 hours and 30 minutes. Durban to Kangel Mar Azul Estate +/ – 6 hours.

    Close to shore, the dive region offers divers more than 15 beautiful coral reefs to explore. All range in different depths (up to 48 meters) which caters to beginner and advanced divers. Popular dive sites such as ‘Waynes World’, ‘Bass City’, ‘Pinnacles’ and ‘Atlantis’ are home to a great variety of marine life.

    150 km south of Maputo and about 50 km north of Ponta Malongane, is the Maputo Elephant Reserve (officially known as “Maputo Special Reserve” or in Portuguese “Reserva Especial de Maputo”). The reserve can only be traversed with a 4×4 and is part of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area – a project joining areas in countries of Mozambique, South Africa, and Swaziland. Although not a “Big 5” game reserve, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Zebra, Crocodiles, Antelope, Flamingos, and a wide variety of birds can be spotted in this unspoiled reserve, whilst efforts to restock wildlife is an ongoing process.
