BALEIA AZUL 20.

Baleia Azul House 20 in Ponta Mamoli, Mozambique. Baleia 20 is a 12-sleeper
(8 adults + 4 children under 12 years old) self-catering home and is located on the beachfront row of houses which has a walkway leading from the swimming pool down onto the beach.
The famous Fredericos snorkeling spot is situated a mere 5-minute walk down the beach from this house.

Did we mention, that you also have a private path to the beach below?

Sleeping Arrangements

Baleia Azul 20 has 4 spacious en suite bedrooms, two are sea-facing and two are garden-facing.
The entire house has sliding gauze. Comfortably sleeping 12 people (8 adults + 4 children under 12 years old), the bedroom configuration is as per below:

Bedroom 1 – sea facing – 1 king bed – sleeps 2.
This bedroom has an inside en suite bathroom as well as an outside shower for those hot days.
Bedroom 2 – sea facing – 1 king bed – sleeps 2.
This bedroom has an inside en suite bathroom as well as an outside shower for those hot days
Bedroom 3 – 1 queen bed and 1 bunk bed (bunk beds are for children under 12 years old) – sleeps 4. En suite.
Bedroom 4 – 1 queen bed and 1 bunk bed (bunk beds are for children under 12 years old) – sleeps 4. En suite.
All bedrooms are airconditioned and also have ceiling fans. Lock up safes in each room.

Note that bedrooms 3 and 4 – the Bunk beds are only for children under 12 years old.
King beds in bedrooms 1 and 2 can not be set up as 2 single beds.

All linen is provided and bath towels are provided.

Your Space

The open plan kitchen, dining room, lounge, and inside bar area overlook the swimming pool (The swimming pool Does NOT have safety nets) and ocean and open onto an outside lounging area.
The wooden deck stretches out towards the sunken swimming pool and private beach walkway.

The house is fully equipped for self-catering and has staff daily to clean up.
The kitchen is equipped with
2 drink fridges,
2 double-door fridges/freezers,
1 chest freezer,
A washing machine, and
a gas hob and oven.

The outside has a Weber braai and a stainless steel wood/charcoal braai. The staff can set up a gazebo and camping chairs on the beach for you

PLEASE NOTE – There is NO TV / DSTV and Wifi at Baleia 20.

The water comes from a borehole and there is a filter system but it’s advisable to take drinking water with you.

Frederico’s snorkeling spot is a short 10-minute stroll down the beach.
Ensure you take snorkeling gear along!

Guest Access –

An off-road 4X4 vehicle is essential for access to the area and Baleia Azul Beach Estate, otherwise secure parking at Kosi Bay Border Post and a border transfer can be arranged at extra cost. Thereafter you will have to make use of the transfer company to arrange additional transfers if you need to get around in the area.

There is an entry and exit permit that you need to get at the entrance gate to the Estate, the cost is R 100.00. Remember to hand this permit back when you leave and collect your R 100.00.

Staff Tip –

While the staff are paid a salary, gratuities are well received as they work extremely hard to ensure that your stay in our Beach House is unforgettable for all the right reasons.
Please don’t be shy. Should you want either of them to do ANYTHING else for you, please negotiate with them directly.
They are both, of course, keen on earning a bit extra money.
LAUNDRY Macici will do laundry if required for R120 per load.

Other Things To Note –

Please take note that the swimming pool does not have a child safety net.
Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case. Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes. Mozambique sim cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices. The Estate uses borehole water which is usually brownish in colour. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the Ponta Malongane village It is advisable to bring OR buy bottled drinking water.

Please note we make use of a septic system and don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper. Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. (food and liquids, mosquito repellent,  etc)
Keys to the unit can be collected from the housekeeper on arrival.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT of R 4000.00 is payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages and lost keys and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account. Please report any breakages to the housekeepers before you depart. If you find items broken on your 1st day of arrival, please report them to the housekeeper so that they can let the homeowner know.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
Late check-out Fee – R 1500.00
Late check-out is on request only.
This is due to incoming bookings on the day of your departure.
Should the house be available, we will deduct the R 1500.00 from your refundable breakage deposit. The late check-out time is 3 pm.
Any later and they will retain the full breakage deposit.
Please stick to the check-in and check-out times to avoid issues.

Please take note that no extra guests will be allowed over and above the maximum occupancy of a house – any additional person will be asked to leave. The homeowners at the estate get fined if additional guests are staying at the house. This will affect the refund of the breakage deposit.

No smoking.
No pets.
No parties, Loud music, or events/ functions will be allowed.
Reduced noise after 10 pm.
Should you not adhere to these rules then the Estate will retain the full breakage deposit.

Swimming Pool –
The swimming pool at all the houses has no safety features.
Use of the swimming pool and the associated amenities and facilities are strictly at your own risk. Ponta Malongane Accommodation, Homeowner, and the Estate booked at cannot be held responsible in the event of accidental injury and or death.

Swimming in the Ocean
We would like to extend a crucial reminder to all visitors planning to swim in the beautiful waters of Mozambique.
While the allure of Mozambique’s pristine beaches may be enticing, it is imperative to exercise extreme caution when venturing into the ocean.
We regret to inform you that many beaches in Mozambique lack signpost warnings and are not equipped with lifeguards,
significantly increasing the risks associated with swimming.
One of the most significant dangers to be aware of is the presence of rip tides.
These powerful currents can swiftly pull even the strongest swimmers out to sea, posing a grave threat to your safety.
Without proper signage or lifeguards to guide you, it is vital to remain vigilant and heed any natural warnings such as sudden changes in water color or unusually strong currents.
In light of these hazards, we strongly advise all visitors to exercise caution and refrain from swimming alone. Always inform someone on the land of your plans,
and never underestimate the power of the ocean.

Cancellation Policy –

Cancellation more than 30 days before arrival 70% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
Cancellation less than 30 days before arrival 0% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
