Mar Azul 18 with lush dunes, and sweeping beaches, Mar Azul 18 scenic beauty is in a unique setting on the warm Indian Ocean. Mar Azul 18 is a private home in the Mar Azul Estate that sleeps 26 guests between 9 bedrooms. Set on the coast near the southernmost tip of Mozambique in Ponta Malongane.

Sleeping Arrangements

Mar Azul 18 sleeps 26 guests.
The Main house sleeps 16 people and is spacious and luxurious. The kitchen is fully serviced. Open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen.
The bottom section – 
Bedroom 1 – Double bed – Ensuite  (Shower + Toilet + Basin). 2 people. Aircon.
Bedroom 2 – Double bed – Ensuite (Shower + Toilet + Basin). 2 people. Aircon.
Bedroom 3 – 1 Single bed and 1 bunk bed, sleep, 3 people. Portable aircon.
Bedroom 4 – 1 Single bed and 1 bunk bed, sleep, 3 people. Ceiling fan.
Bedrooms 3 and 4 shares 1 bathroom and is between the 2 bedrooms.
Up-stairs section –
Bedroom 5 – 1 Double bed and 1 single bed, sleep, 3 people. Ceiling fan.
In the up-stair section in the open area, there are 
2 x Single sleeper couches – 2 people.
1 x Single bed. 1 person.
in this section there is 
1 x Bathroom (Shower + Toilet + Basin).
Sleeps 16 (max in the main house).

Double Apartment – 6 Sleeper.
Luxurious and homely with an open plan lounge and fully equipped kitchen.
Air-conditioner in the lounge area.
Bedroom 1 – 2 x Single beds- get converted to double beds for couples.
Bedroom 2 – 2 x Single beds- get converted to double beds for couples.
1 x Sleeper couch (sleep 2) in the lounge.
1 x Bathroom (Shower + Toilet + Basin).
Sleeps 6 (max).

Family Apartment – 4 Sleeper.
Luxurious and homely. Open plan unit with a fully equipped kitchenette area.
1 x Double bed. Aircon.
2 x single beds.
1 x Bathroom (Shower + Toilet + Basin).
Kitchenette.
Sleeps 4 (max).

All linen is provided.

Each section is serviced daily and supplied with toilet paper, soaps, cleaning materials, doom, toilet spray, and hand cream.

Your Space

Mar Azul 18 is a double-story house that is split into 3 Apartments:
The Main House (top story),
The Family Apartment (bottom) and The Double Apartment (bottom).
You can rent 1 of the 3 Apartments or the entire house except for Peak season when you have to rent the entire house.
There are sea views from all 3 Apartments.

There is a private pool and bar area for all guests staying at Mar Azul 18 to enjoy.
The swimming pool and bar area are shared by all 3 Apartments should other guests be renting over the same dates you have a rental.
(Swimming pool Does NOT have safety nets)

The house is within 100m of the beach via wooden walkways.

Wifi is provided.

Note – although Wifi and DStv and Aircons are provided, sometimes there are technical issues and it might not work. Because the estate is located in a remote area the problem might not be fixed at the same time, it might take a day or more to get it working if a technician has to come out.
Do not rely on it if you want to watch sports etc nor the wifi if you need to be online to work etc.
If it does not work, please report the issue to the staff who will inform the homeowner to try and resolve the problem.

Guest Access –

An off-road 4X4 or 2×4 with a diff lock vehicle is essential for access to the area and to Mar Azul Beach Estate, otherwise secure parking at Kosi Bay Border Post and a border transfer can be arranged at extra cost. Thereafter you will have to make use of the transfer company to arrange additional transfers if you need to get around in the area.

Staff Tip –

There is a compulsory Staff tip payable.
Main House – R 100.00 per day this included the day of arrival and day of departure.
Double Apartment – R50 per day this included the day of arrival and day of departure.
Family Apartment – R50 per day this included the day of arrival and day of departure.

Other Things To Note –

Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case. Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes. Mozambique sim cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices. The Estate uses borehole water which is usually brownish in colour. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the village and it is advisable to bring bottled drinking water.

Please note we make use of a septic system, and don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper. Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. (food and liquids, mosquito repellent,  etc)
Keys to the unit can be collected from the housekeeper on arrival.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT of 1-night stay is payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages and lost keys and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account. Please report any breakages to the housekeepers before you depart. If you find items broken on your 1st day of arrival, please report them to the housekeeper so that they can let the homeowner know.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
Late check-out Fee – R 2000.00
Late check-out is on request only.
This is due to incoming bookings on the day of your departure.
Should the house be available, we will deduct the R 2000.00 from your refundable breakage deposit. The late check-out time is 3 pm.
If you have rented the Double and/or Family apartments,  The late check-out fee is 
equivalent of a 1-night stay which will be deducted from your breakage deposit.
Any later and they will retain the full breakage deposit.
Please stick to the check-in and check-out times to avoid issues.

Please note that no extra guests will be allowed over and above the maximum occupancy of a house – any additional person will be asked to leave. The homeowners at the estate get fined if additional guests staying at the house. This will affect the refund of the breakage deposit.

No smoking.
No pets.
No parties, Loud music, or events/ functions will be allowed.
Reduced noise after 10 pm.
Should you not adhere to these rules then the Estate will retain the full breakage deposit.

Swimming Pool –
The swimming pool at all the houses has no safety features.
Use of the swimming pool and the associated amenities and facilities are strictly at your own risk. Ponta Malongane Accommodation, Homeowner, and the Estate booked at cannot be held responsible in the event of accidental injury and or death.

Swimming in the Ocean
We would like to extend a crucial reminder to all visitors planning to swim in the beautiful waters of Mozambique. 
While the allure of Mozambique’s pristine beaches may be enticing, it is imperative to exercise extreme caution when venturing into the ocean.
We regret to inform you that many beaches in Mozambique lack signpost warnings and are not equipped with lifeguards,
significantly increasing the risks associated with swimming.
One of the most significant dangers to be aware of is the presence of rip tides.
These powerful currents can swiftly pull even the strongest swimmers out to sea, posing a grave threat to your safety.
Without proper signage or lifeguards to guide you, it is vital to remain vigilant and heed any natural warnings such as sudden changes in water color or unusually strong currents.
In light of these hazards, we strongly advise all visitors to exercise caution and refrain from swimming alone. Always inform someone on the land of your plans,
and never underestimate the power of the ocean.

Cancellation Policy –

Cancellation more than 30 days before arrival 70% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
Cancellation less than 30 days before arrival 0% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
*Service fees are non-refundable.
