MAR AZUL 1B.

Mar Azul 1B is a beachfront house set in the stunning Mar Azul Beach Estate in Ponta Malongane, Mozambique. Mar Azul 1B has 7 en suite bedrooms which accommodates 16 guests. Mar Azul 1B is located on the beachfront row of houses. 

Sleeping Arrangements

Mar Azul 1B sleeps 16 guests in 7 bedrooms.
The bottom floor of the house has – 3 en suite bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 – 1 King Size Bed. En Suite.
Bedroom 2 – 1 King Size Bed. En Suite.
Bedroom 3 – 1 Double Bed. En Suite.

The Top floor of the house has – 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, 1 with a shower and a bath and the other 3 with showers.
Bedroom 4 – 1 King Size Bed. En Suite.
Bedroom 5 – 1 King Size Bed. En Suite.
Bedroom 6 – Bunk beds set up as a double bed at the bottom and a single bed on top – sleep, 3 people. En Suite.
Bedroom 7 – Bunk beds set up as a double bed at the bottom and a single bed on top – sleep, 3 people. En Suite.

Sleeping 16 people comfortably.
Please note – The bed count is for more than 16 people but the homeowner rents the house for a maximum of 16 people and no more.

The house has ceiling fans, but no air conditioning.

Your Space

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and includes a 4 hobs electric stove and oven, washing machine, 3 fridges/freezers, and 2 chest-deep freezers. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering.

The open-plan living area opens up onto a large outside wooden deck area with outside furniture and a swimming pool overlooking the ocean.
(Swimming pool Does NOT have safety nets)
This house has 180-degree sea views.
There is a coal braai on the outside deck.
Wood can be bought in the local village or bring your charcoal with you.
There is no TV at Mar Azul 1B.
All cleaning materials and toilet paper are provided. Bath towels are provided, you must bring beach towels with you.
Mar Azul 1B has a generator if there are any power outages.

Guest Access –

An off-road 4X4 or 2×4 with a diff lock vehicle is essential for access to the area and to Mar Azul Beach Estate, otherwise, secure parking at Kosi Bay Border Post and a border transfer can be arranged at extra cost. Thereafter you will have to make use of the transfer company to arrange additional transfers if you need to get around in the area.

Staff Tip –

There are 2 full-time staff members, Mito and Rosa. There is a compulsory staff tip of R 100.00 per staff member per day, this includes your day of arrival and departure. You can pay the staff in cash on your departure date.

Other Things To Note –

Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case.
Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes.
Mozambique sim cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices.
The Estate uses borehole water which is usually brownish in color. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the village and it is advisable to bring bottled drinking water.

Please note we make use of a septic system, and don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper.
Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. (food and liquids, mosquito repellent,  etc)
Keys to the unit can be collected from the housekeeper on arrival.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT  –
R 5000.00  is payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages and lost keys and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account. Please report any breakages to the housekeepers before you depart. If you find items broken on your 1st day of arrival, please report them to the housekeeper so that they can let the homeowner know.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
Late check-out Fee – R 1500.00
Late check-out is on request only.
This is due to incoming bookings on the day of your departure.
Should the house be available, we will deduct the R 1500.00 from your refundable breakage deposit. The late check-out time is 3 pm. 
Any later and they will retain the full breakage deposit.
Please stick to the check-in and check-out times to avoid issues.

Please take note that no extra guests will be allowed over and above the maximum occupancy of a house – any additional person will be asked to leave. The homeowners at the estate get fined if additional guests are staying at the house. This will affect the refund of the breakage deposit.

No smoking.
No pets.
No parties, Loud music, or events/ functions will be allowed.
Reduced noise after 10 pm.
Should you not adhere to these rules then the Estate will retain the full breakage deposit.

Swimming Pool –
The swimming pool at all the houses has no safety features.
Use of the swimming pool and the associated amenities and facilities are strictly at your own risk. Ponta Malongane Accommodation, Homeowner, and the Estate booked at cannot be held responsible in the event of accidental injury and or death.

Swimming in the Ocean
We would like to extend a crucial reminder to all visitors planning to swim in the beautiful waters of Mozambique. 
While the allure of Mozambique’s pristine beaches may be enticing, it is imperative to exercise extreme caution when venturing into the ocean.
We regret to inform you that many beaches in Mozambique lack signpost warnings and are not equipped with lifeguards,
significantly increasing the risks associated with swimming.
One of the most significant dangers to be aware of is the presence of rip tides.
These powerful currents can swiftly pull even the strongest swimmers out to sea, posing a grave threat to your safety.
Without proper signage or lifeguards to guide you, it is vital to remain vigilant and heed any natural warnings such as sudden changes in water color or unusually strong currents.
In light of these hazards, we strongly advise all visitors to exercise caution and refrain from swimming alone. Always inform someone on the land of your plans,
and never underestimate the power of the ocean.

Cancellation Policy –

Cancellation more than 30 days before arrival 70% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
Cancellation less than 30 days before arrival 0% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
