MAR AZUL 4.

Mar Azul 4 is a 4 bedroom and 4 bathroom, 10 sleeper (8 adults + 2 children under 12 years old) self-catering home set on the beachfront row of houses. Mar Azul 4 has a private walkway leading directly onto the beach with long golden sands and waves lapping on the shore.

Mar Azul 4 is the owner’s second home away from home and has been equipped and furnished to make your stay most comfortable.

Sleeping Arrangements

Mar Azul 4 sleeps, 10 guests. (8 adults and 2 children under 12 years)
Bedroom 1 – Queen-size bed with a single roll-out bed underneath.
(2 adults and 1 child) En-suite.
Bedroom 2 – Double bed and 1 single bed (2 adults and 1 child) – En-suite.

On the right of the house, there are bedrooms 3 and 4.
Bedroom 3 – Queen-size bed (2 adults) – En-suite.
Bedroom 4 – Double bed (2 adults) – En-suite.

2 of the bedrooms open onto the outside deck and you can feel the cool ocean breeze while having your morning coffee in bed.
The other 2 bedrooms look out into the coastal forest.

All beds have mosquito beds and overhead ceiling fans, There is No air-con. The bedroom photos show aircon but they do not work.
All linen is provided.

Your Space

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering.
3 Fridges.
1 Deep freeze.
Electric oven.
Glass stovetop.
2 Electric chip fryers.
Kettle.
Coffee plungers.
Filter the coffee machine with paper filters/glass coffee pots.
Crockery and cutlery are provided for self-catering.

Please note – There is No microwave provided at Mar Azul 4.
No TV.

The Deck – Unwind with a good book and a glass of wine as you take in the stunning ocean views. Let time and the cares of the world fade away, embraced by the peacefulness of this serene setting.

There is a gas braai on the outside deck overlooking the ocean, gas is supplied.
There is also a charcoal braai behind the house for those windy days.

The house has a backup generator for when there are power outages.
No candles are allowed inside the house as the house is built from wood and this is a fire hazard.

What To Bring With –

• Cleaning materials such as sunlight soap, handy andy, etc.
• Toilet Paper – 1 Ply. Only use single-ply toilet paper. PLEASE!!! If you use 2/3 ply and should there be any plumbing issues, they will charge a fee to get it unblocked.
• Own washing powder for laundry.
• Dishtowels.
• Personal toiletries.
• Black Rubbish Bags.
• Beach umbrellas.
• Adapters/ Cell phone chargers.
• First aid kit.
• Binoculars and camera.

Guest Access –

An off-road 4X4 or 2×4 with a diff lock vehicle is essential for access to the area and to Mar Azul Beach Estate, otherwise secure parking at Kosi Bay Border Post and a border transfer can be arranged at extra cost. Thereafter you will have to make use of the transfer company to arrange additional transfers if you need to get around in the area.

Staff Tip –

Daily staff tip – Anna is the housekeeper, she only works at this house and does cleaning daily.
Laundry is charged at R 150.00 per load. 
If you would like laundry done please bring skip washing powder or liquid with you and ask Anna to do the laundry for you, only Anna is allowed to operate the washing machine. Please feel free to tip her at your discretion.

Other Things To Note –

Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case.
Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes.
Mozambique sim cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices.
The Estate uses borehole water which is usually brownish in colour. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the village and it is advisable to bring bottled drinking water.

Please note we make use of a septic system, don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper. Toilet Paper – 1 Ply. Only use single-ply toilet paper. PLEASE!!! If you use 2/3 ply and should there be any plumbing issues, they will charge a fee to get it unblocked.
Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. (food and liquids, mosquito repellent, Toilet paper  etc)
Keys to the unit can be collected from the housekeeper on arrival.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT of R 4000.00 is payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages and lost keys and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account. Please report any breakages to the housekeepers before you depart. If you find items broken on your 1st day of arrival, please report them to the housekeeper so that they can let the homeowner know.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
Late check-out Fee – R 1500.00
Late check-out is on request only.
This is due to incoming bookings on the day of your departure.
Should the house be available, we will deduct the R 1500.00 from your refundable breakage deposit. The late check-out time is 3 pm. 
Any later and they will retain the full breakage deposit.
Please stick to the check-in and check-out times to avoid issues.

Please take note that no extra guests will be allowed over and above the maximum occupancy of a house – any additional person will be asked to leave. The homeowners at the estate get fined if additional guests are staying at the house. This will affect the refund of the breakage deposit.

No smoking.
No pets.
No parties, Loud music, or events/ functions will be allowed.
Reduced noise after 10 pm.
Should you not adhere to these rules then the Estate will retain the full breakage deposit.

Swimming in the Ocean
We would like to extend a crucial reminder to all visitors planning to swim in the beautiful waters of Mozambique. 
While the allure of Mozambique’s pristine beaches may be enticing, it is imperative to exercise extreme caution when venturing into the ocean.
We regret to inform you that many beaches in Mozambique lack signpost warnings and are not equipped with lifeguards,
significantly increasing the risks associated with swimming.
One of the most significant dangers to be aware of is the presence of rip tides.
These powerful currents can swiftly pull even the strongest swimmers out to sea, posing a grave threat to your safety.
Without proper signage or lifeguards to guide you, it is vital to remain vigilant and heed any natural warnings such as sudden changes in water color or unusually strong currents.
In light of these hazards, we strongly advise all visitors to exercise caution and refrain from swimming alone. Always inform someone on the land of your plans,
and never underestimate the power of the ocean.

Cancellation Policy –

Cancellation more than 30 days before arrival 70% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
Cancellation less than 30 days before arrival 0% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
*Service fees are non-refundable.
