Salt and Sun – Ponta Malongane

Salt and Sun is a relaxed, pet-friendly holiday home situated on the elevated Signal Hill housing estate in Ponta Malongane. While the house is not directly on the beachfront, it enjoys uninterrupted sea views and is just a 5-minute walk to the beach via a sandy path and wooden walkway that leads straight onto the shoreline.

Salt and Sun comfortably accommodates small families, couples, or a small group.
It offers two air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, plus an additional bathroom.

Sleeping Arrangements – Salt and Sun sleeps 4 people.

Bedroom 1 – Double bed – en suite. Air-conditioned 
Bedroom 2 – 2 x single beds – en suite. Air-conditioned 

The open-plan living area flows onto a private balcony with a dining table, creating an easy indoor-outdoor living space with beautiful ocean views.

The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and includes a coffee machine.
Guests must please bring their own Delta coffee capsules.
The house also offers free Starlink WiFi, making it easy to stay connected during your stay.

Guests can enjoy a lush garden, seating areas, and braai facilities, with sea views visible from various points around the property.

Signal Hill Estate offers excellent shared amenities, including Sunrise Voodoo Restaurant, an on-site restaurant serving daily meals.
The restaurant features a swimming pool, and guests may request permission from the restaurant owners to make use of it.
Right at the estate entrance gate, you will also find Captain Gus Restaurant, which has a swimming pool and a water slide, making it a great spot for children.

The estate further offers daily housekeeping, secure on-site parking, and full-day security.

Salt & Sun is located approximately 1.5 km from Ponta Malongane beach and 3.3 km from Ponta do Ouro beach, offering a peaceful setting with easy access to both areas.

Pet-friendly note: Well-behaved dogs are welcome. All dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, as there are other dogs on the estate.

Staff Fee –

There is a compulsory staff fee of
R 70.00 per day for the housekeeper.
This includes your arrival and departure dates and must be paid in cash on your departure date directly to the housekeeper.
The housekeepers’ working hours are from 8 am to 4 pm daily.
If you arrive after 4 pm the keys will be with the gate security. Please get the keys at the gate, and you will have access to the house.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT
R 2000.00 Payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages, lost keys, and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account. Please report any breakages to the housekeepers before you depart. If you find items broken on your 1st day of arrival, please report them to the housekeeper so that they can let the homeowner know.

Other Things To Note –

Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case.
Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes.
Mozambique SIM cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices.
The Estate uses borehole water, which is usually brownish in colour. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the village, and it is advisable to bring bottled drinking water.

Please note we use a septic system and don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper.
Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. food and liquids, mosquito repellent,  etc
Keys to the unit can be collected from the housekeeper on arrival. Please plan to arrive before 4 pm so you can collect the keys from him.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
Late check-out Fee – R 1500.00
Late check-out is on request only.
This is due to incoming bookings on the day of your departure.
Should the house be available, we will deduct R 1500.00 from your refundable breakage deposit. The late check-out time is 3 pm.
Any later and they will retain the full breakage deposit.
Please stick to the check-in and check-out times to avoid issues.

Please take note that no extra guests will be allowed over and above the maximum occupancy of a house – any additional person will be asked to leave. The homeowners at the estate get fined if additional guests stay at the house. This will affect the refund of the breakage deposit.

No smoking.
Loud music, parties, and functions are not allowed. All guests must comply with the rules of the estate in which they are staying.
Absolutely no noise is allowed between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Failure to comply will result in a warning.
If the issue occurs again after a warning, the full breakage deposit will be forfeited. Continued non-compliance may result in guests being asked to vacate the property immediately, with no refund for any unused nights

Swimming Pool –
The swimming pool at the estate has no safety features.
Use of the swimming pool and the associated amenities and facilities are strictly at your own risk. Ponta Malongane Accommodation, Homeowner, and the Estate cannot be held responsible in the event of accidental injury and or death.

Swimming in the Ocean
We would like to extend a crucial reminder to all visitors planning to swim in the beautiful waters of Mozambique.
While the allure of Mozambique’s pristine beaches may be enticing, it is imperative to exercise extreme caution when venturing into the ocean.
We regret to inform you that many beaches in Mozambique lack signpost warnings and are not equipped with lifeguards.
significantly increasing the risks associated with swimming.
One of the most significant dangers to be aware of is the presence of rip tides.
These powerful currents can swiftly pull even the strongest swimmers out to sea, posing a grave threat to your safety.
Without proper signage or lifeguards to guide you, it is vital to remain vigilant and heed any natural warnings, such as sudden changes in water colour or unusually strong currents.
In light of these hazards, we strongly advise all visitors to exercise caution and refrain from swimming alone. Always inform someone on the land of your plans,
And never underestimate the power of the ocean.

Cancellation Policy –

Cancellation more than 30 days before arrival 70% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
Cancellation less than 30 days before arrival 0% of the accommodation total will be refunded.
