CAMPING AT WAKENE BEACH ESTATE

Wakene Camping. These beautiful campsites are nestled behind the sand dunes, on Wakene Beach Estate, within the coastal forest. There are 16 x 10 person and 2 privately owned secluded campsites available, all with their own private ablution and kitchenette.

This is the ideal base to explore the surrounding area and enjoy the indigenous coastal forest with prolific birdlife and natural fauna and flora.

Wakene Beach Estate is located on 18 acres of Coastal Dune Forest with its own beachfront, 2 km North of Ponta Malongane, 7 km from Ponta do Oura, and 15km from the Kosi bay border.

Henk’s Camp.

This exclusive, sought-after campsite on the edge of the Estate is on the highest dune. Offers a limited Sea view and shady trees. Sheltered from the wind.
The site has a 72m² building which includes two full bathrooms, (toilet, shower, and basin) and a large covered indoor kitchen/dining area. Partial Sea view.
Campsite with kitchen. (Max 10 persons) 

Jabulile’s Camp.

Jabulile’s is a privately owned campsite within the Wakene Beach Estate. This is the only campsite with a sea view. Situated 100m from the beach within the coastal forest.
This private ablution campsite can accommodate up to 12 guests.
Has a PowerPoint, a water tap, and a portable stainless steel Braai.
The site is approx 20m x 25m. (Shaded area is 15m x10m)

The ablutions are equipped with flushing toilets, hot-water showers, and basins. There is also a separate kitchenette with a fridge and a two-plate stove. Toilet paper and cleaning materials, including dishwashing liquid, are supplied. Included in the tariff is a maid to clean your site daily.
Parking for 4 Vehicles.

Wakene Standard Private Camping.

The standard private camping sites can accommodate up to 10 guests per campsite.
Each camp has a Powerpoint, water tap, and a braai available.

There is also a separate kitchenette with a fridge and a two-plate stove.

The ablutions are equipped with flushing toilets, hot-water showers, and basins.
Toilet paper and cleaning materials, including dishwashing liquid, are supplied. Included in the tariff is a maid to clean each site daily.

Guest Access –

An off-road 4X4 vehicle is essential for access to the area and Wakene Beach Estate, otherwise secure parking at Kosi Bay Border Post and a border transfer can be arranged at extra cost. Thereafter you will have to make use of the transfer company to arrange additional transfers if you need to get around in the area.

Staff Service Fee –

Wakene Camping is serviced by a housekeeper once a day. 
R 50.00 per day per staff member (1).
This includes the day of arrival and the day of departure.
This will be added to your invoice for pre-payment.

Other Things To Note –

Power cuts in the area are a challenge and generally out of our control. Please bring torches just in case. Cellphone reception is a challenge that can be a blessing in disguise. You can get signals in some locations higher up on the dunes. Mozambique sim cards and data can also be purchased in the local market in Ponta Malongane at reasonable prices. The Estate uses borehole water which is usually brownish in colour. Should you prefer bottled water, it is available in the Ponta Malongane village It is advisable to bring OR buy bottled drinking water.

Please note we make use of a septic system, don’t flush other products down the toilets besides toilet paper. Guests must bring their own consumables e.g. (food and liquids, mosquito repellent,  etc)
Keys to the unit can be collected from the housekeeper on arrival.

REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT of R 500.00 payable 1 month before arrival and refunded within 14 days of departure. Any breakages and lost keys and/or remotes will be deducted from this deposit. The balance will be refunded to your bank account.

House Rules –

Check-in: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Checkout: 10:00 AM
An R 800.00 charge will be levied for early check-in and late check-outs (2:30 pm – Latest).
No smoking.
No pets.
No parties, Loud music, or events/ functions will be allowed.
Reduced noise after 10 pm.
Should you not adhere to these rules then the Estate will retain the full breakage deposit.

Cancellation Policy –

Will be sent with reservation form.
*Service fees are non-refundable.
